Stoic Practice
Stoic Practice is built to stay out of your way. Almost everything it does happens on your own device, and it asks for as little as possible. This page explains exactly what that means.
Stoic Practice is published by Bärlin Cuisine AB, a company registered in Sweden ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the limited processing described here. If you have any question about privacy, you can reach us at info@barlincuisine.se.
We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data. The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. Your settings and your streak live only on your device. The single exception is purchasing a subscription, which is handled by Google and our billing provider — described in section 05.
Everything you set up in the app is stored locally on your phone and never leaves it. We never receive or see any of it. This includes:
If you uninstall the app, this on-device data is removed with it. If your phone has Android's own backup feature switched on, Android may keep a copy and restore it when you reinstall — that is a function of your device and your Google account, not something we control or have access to.
The reminders you receive are scheduled locally by your device. We do not run a server that pushes messages to you, and we do not know whether, when, or how often a reminder is delivered. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app's settings or in your device settings.
To deliver reminders at the time you set rather than several minutes late, the app can ask for Android's "Alarms & reminders" permission. Granting it simply improves timing; it involves no data collection.
Stoic Practice offers an optional paid subscription. If you choose to subscribe, two third parties are involved:
We use this information only to provide and restore the subscription you paid for. You can review their practices in the RevenueCat privacy policy and the Google privacy policy.
Because the app stores your settings and streak only on your device, deleting the app — or clearing its data in your device settings — removes that information entirely. We never hold it, so there is nothing on our side to delete.
The one exception is subscription data held by our billing provider, RevenueCat, if you have subscribed. To request deletion of that data, email us at info@barlincuisine.se from the address associated with your purchase, with the subject line "Data deletion request". We will delete your subscription record from RevenueCat within 30 days and confirm once it is done.
What is deleted: your RevenueCat subscription record, including the anonymous identifier and purchase history held there. What may be kept: Google Play retains its own record of transactions for legal, tax, and accounting purposes under its policies, which we cannot delete on your behalf; and we may retain minimal records where the law requires it.
Because we are based in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation applies. Since the app holds no personal data on our side, there is in practice very little for us to hold, correct, or erase. Where the limited subscription information above counts as personal data, you have the right to request access to it, its correction or deletion, and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@barlincuisine.se, and you may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish data protection authority (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).
Stoic Practice is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. It deals with reflective themes — including mortality, illness, and loss — drawn from the Stoic tradition. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy — for example, if we ever add a feature that handles data differently — we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
